Bohemian Hairstyles for 2012

Beach Waves

This hairstyle is reminiscent of the way your hair dries after it’s been in saltwater. A soft wavy look is what you’re going for. There are a few different ways to achieve this look. After you wash your hair and it’s still wet, braid it into loose braids and tie them closed until they dry. Once they dry, undo the braids and wah-lah you have a soft pretty wave. You can also use a heated ‘crimper’ (which you can find in the hair section of your local department store). When you braid your hair and let it dry naturally it’s much healthier for your hair than the heat of a crimper. But in a pinch, a crimper is a quick and easy way to get the look.

Accessorize your beach waves

Accessories can really add an oomph factor to your free flowing beach waves. This hairstyle represents Boho fashion that is specially meant to rejoice the natural elements such as wood, stone, shell or hemps. Here are few tips to beautify your look with accessories:

  • You can opt to use frill like bandana or nylon band to get a perfect bohemian beach look.
  • To get a complete beach or hippy look, you can wear or tie a boho headband on forehead in a traditional way or you can add fabric flowers in it.
  • Hoops and beaded earrings can best compliment the beach waves by providing a unique look.
  • Avoid using metal accessories such as gold or silver as it doesn’t look great with the bohemian hairstyle.

Braids

Braids are a traditional style, originating in Europe. But with the bohemian style you don’t want a slick perfect braid. Rather a haphazardly done side braid is what you’re going for. Simply loosely pull all of your hair to one side and then braid it about half way down and tie it shut. Another cute bohemian trend is to add smaller braids to your hair style. If you are wearing your hair down, braid a few tiny streaks of hair from the top of your head and let them hang loosely with the rest of your style. If you’re pulling your hair back, try braiding a piece of hair from one side into your style.

How to accessorize your braids:

  • You can simply tie up your hair in small braids or leave your hair loose to get a wavy look.
  • Make use of some flowery pins to give a fresh look to your bohemian hairstyle.

Messy Buns

This fun relaxed hair style has been ‘in’ in Hollywood since 2002, but just recently became a staple in the Bohemian fashion sense. To get this look flip your hair upside down and then loosely pull it back and tie it into a ponytail. When you flip your hair back up, you should have a few pieces fall down around your face and the rest will be pulled back, but unlike a normal ponytail there will be a bit of volume to your hair. Then twist your ponytail until it wraps around itself (just keep turning it over and over, eventually it will curve to fit your head). Take a few bobbie pins and secure it into place. And there you go, a quick and easy bohemian style.

How to beautify your messy bun with accessories

Messy bun is a sleek up-do and a sophisticated option for this summer. It can give you a gorgeous look if it is accessorized:

  • You can add a sparkly crystal brooch to pin into the side of your messy bun that gives you a trendy look for any event.
  • A smooth and neat top knot is best complimenting your look with a pair of bold earrings or a necklace.
  • You can add sequins and gems to your regular bobby pins to make them beautiful at home and then you can pin it to your bohemian messy bun to make it more alluring.
  • Hair stick is another cool option that you can place into your messy twist, messy ponytail, French roll, braided bun and chignon bun to get an elegant look at beach party.
  • You can also go with bandana to accessorize your messy style with many options such as floral, striped, paisley, animal print or a tie dye bandana. You can wear bandana in your summer style such as wrap it around at the top of your hair or make a ponytail with bandana wrapped around it. Wearing a bandana is a secure option to protect both your head and hair.
  • Fun accessories like scarves, banana clips, barrettes and head bands can also make your messy bun or ponytail a bit more stylish this summer.
